It was a cold night at the Henson plantation. Julily and Mammy Sally just received news that a slave trader will be coming to the plantation to buy some of the slaves. Julily asked who will be bought. Mammy Sally answered that there's no way to know for sure.
Mammy Sally talked about a place where no slavery is allowed. A place called Canada.
"There's a place the slaves been whisperin' around called Canada. The law don't allow no slavery there. They say you follow the north star, and when you step onto this land, you are free..."
Mammy Sally carefully explained that that's information for your ears only. Do not discuss this with anyone else.
